Maybank GO Ahead. Challenge was born in 2012 with the vision to uncover the best talents across the globe, and also to nurture future leaders. During the first competition, we received more than 1,000 applicants from 6 countries across Asia.WATCH TEASER
In 2013, the Ultimate Go. Ahead Challenger was first introduced and the winner was entitled for a 2-week internship at Maybank New York.WATCH TEASER
MGAC continued to impact lives and look for the brightest minds from across the region. In 2014, the number of applicants increased by 100% since the inception in 2012. It was also the year where the Grand Finals were held both in Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta.WATCH TEASER
2015 marked the inception of Season of Smiles – a CSR initiative, where teams had to sell and spread happiness to the public. It was also the year of the longest running Global level yet, lasting for 12 days! The top 3 UGACs in this year were entitled to engage with Maybank’s most influential leaders at Transitioning Leaders of CEOs programme, a home-grown leadership programme.WATCH TEASER
2016 attracted a whopping 37 000 applicants from across the globe! And, for the first time the UGAC was given options to choose any Maybank office around the world for a 2 week international assignment.WATCH TEASER
MGAC 2017 brought together more than 40,000 applicants from 108 nationalities and for the first time, an all-female team won as the team champion.WATCH TEASER
Selected challengers will be offered a spot in the Global Maybank Apprentice Programme (GMAP), our award winning management trainee programme. GMAP is an exclusive two-year management trainee programme where our Global Maybank Apprentices are given a holistic learning experience with customised on-the-job rotations with international assignments to familiarise them with Maybank’s global network operations. The programme also aimed to accelerate Maybank Apprentices’ growth into management roles upon their graduation from the programme.

April 2019 – May 2019
The MGAC team painted the town yellow! With almost 80 roadshows, career fairs, and engagements held across the country, our friendly OCs and the Maybank Tiger were roaring at top universities all around Malaysia. A special token was also presented to those who signed up for the competition. MGAC engagement sessions were also held with students to introduce MGAC to them.WATCH TEASER
4th April 2019
In an MGAC first, at 6 campuses across the Klang Valley, students were treated to the simultaneous live launch of 2019’s Maybank GO Ahead. Challenge! Six interactive digital pop-up booths appeared on university campuses; and students were treated to prizes, games, and puzzles in anticipation of the big launch; which was attended by excited students, Maybank student MBassadors, and university faculty alike. Students also received “Starter Kits”, which held fun surprises, tips and tricks, and power-ups for them to take with them on their MGAC journey.WATCH TEASER
Participants were introduced for the first time to Pre-Campus Missions! All participants shortlisted were invited where they met with and learned from Maybankers. Topics include:
Public Speaking and Rhetoric
Where participants learned to say it loud and say it proud! After this mission, participants can keep audiences engaged and make their points effectively
Taking advantage of Agile work methods such as Scrum teams, Idea Canvases, and Design Thinking; participants rapidly designed creative new products
Coding and Data Science
Participants who embarked on this mission were introduced into the fast-paced and exciting world of data, decisions, and coding
May 2019 – June 2019
Before getting to the exciting day itself, participants were challenged with an online assessment to earn an invitation to the Campus Level of MGAC. MGAC Campus levels were day-long experiences of fun and intensity held at 17 univeristy campuses throughout both Peninsular and East Malaysia.
With over 35,000 applicants, a thousand chosen students participated in MGAC in Malaysia alone this year, with hundreds more expected to join internationally. Students were tested with all-new challenge: After choosing a new home for humanity, they were forced to deal with thought-provoking questions outside of their comfort zones to secure their future. 112 of Malaysian participants are shortlisted to join us at the National Levels on the 16th of July 2019.
On the 12th of July 2019, the Maybank GO Ahead. Challenge conducted its Pre-Nationals Event, an engagement session in preparation for the National Level of #MGAC2019. The day was comprised of exciting and fast-paced activities for both Resurgent and National Finalist candidates and a compelling panel discussion featuring industry leaders including our very own Pn Nora Manaf, Group Chief Human Capital Officer of Maybank; Timothy Tiah, Founder of Colony; Anabelle Co-Martinent, Founder of La Juiceria; and Zikry Kohlil, Co-Founder of Incitement. The panel was moderated by Mr. Jonathan Case, founder of Case Creativity.WATCH TEASER
International National Levels
MGAC has further our exploration to the international level. We first explored the Pearl of the Orient, Philippines. The team visited Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University Manila, and successfully acquired 4 bright participants. We continued our exploration into Singapore Institute of Management where we managed to acquire two young gentlemen by the name of Kenneth Kong and Melvin Nee. In Indonesia, we braced through the intensity at two mission sites which are Prasetiya Mulya and Universitas Indonesia where we recruited five candidates that are eager to strive in the competition. Not forgetting the land of Khmer, Cambodia where we visited Paragon University, competitive selection have decided that four candidates will march on. Arriving at Thailand, the land of smiles, three bright candidates were chosen to represent the beautiful country in their final round! We ended our International National Levels at Hong Kong and three Global Finalists were chosen to fight on through their Journey for MGAC 2019.WATCH TEASER
Game On. Ready to Level up! We saw 101 National Finalists battle to compete for slots to the MGAC Global Finals. Challengers have made their way by coursing through an interactive simulation of the complicating world of the real estate industry and the challenges in running a stable economy.WATCH TEASER

GLOBAL MAYBANK APPRENTICE PROGRAM [GMAP]
The Global Maybank Apprentice Programme is Maybank’s award-winning apex Programme for graduates, a specially designed two-year on-the-job rotation programme which includes a three-month international assignment to encourage cross-border exposure and network among young talents. As one of the industry’s award winning management trainee programme, GMAP is designed to provide graduates with a strategic platform to jump-start their career. The program is not limited to only graduates from business disciplines but also attracts graduates from a wide range of academic backgrounds.
