Important Information to Know Before Choosing a Nursing Major
Talking about nursing majors and permohonan kolej jururawat, it is closely related to various things about the world of health. Why? Because by entering nursing majors, later friends will become nurses.
What is that nurse? What’s the work like? How is it different from doctors, midwives, and other health professions?
Various questions above may arise in the minds of friends. Especially if none of your family or relatives works in the health sector, you may be a little confused about the nursing major and the nursing profession.
So what is this important information?
1. The nurse is not a doctor’s assistant or assistant
The misconception that often occurs in the eyes of society is the assumption that nurses are assistants or assistants to doctors. This assumption is not true at all. Because nursing is an independent profession, has its own body of knowledge, its own professional organization, and independent main tasks with nursing care as the basis for treating patients.
So a nurse is more than just changing IV fluids
Yep. So the nurse is more than just changing IV fluids. Along with the development of knowledge about health and care, nurses are at the forefront of providing health services.
Not only meeting the basic needs of patients (such as eating, drinking, infusion, oxygen), nurses also take part in many invasive (read: medical) actions such as infusion, sewing wounds, handling burns, traffic accidents, and even at the stake of one’s life and death.
Doesn’t have to be a girl
Who said nurses have to always be women? Nowadays, not only women, many men are also nurses. In fact, the chairman of the Malaysian National Nurses Association, is a man.
4. Job opportunities majoring in nursing

Talking about job opportunities, actually being a nurse is good. The work area is wide. Not limited by type, place, or time.
For this type, nurses can work in almost all types of institutions. In health services, in companies, in mining, transportation, legal services, there are many. Not limited to hospitals or clinics.
For places, nurses can work locally, regionally, nationally, and even abroad. Many Malaysian nurses have worked abroad, such as in Japan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Australia, even to the land of the Dutch windmills.
For time, flexible. Because the average nurse works in shifts. 1 day divided into 3 shifts, morning afternoon and night. So, if you are on the morning shift at the hospital, the nurse can immediately work the afternoon shift at the clinic.
Nursing course fees
For matters of cost, just experience, for D3 Nursing, I spent around 40-50 million for 3 years. For S1 Nursing the cost can be higher, around 60-70 million. That’s the total cost, including semester fees, training and all sorts of things.
The online review is an example of the tuition fee for the nursing major that I took from one of the Health Polytechnics in Malaysia in 2016 which is only the semester fee. Just multiply the number of semesters. For D3 there are 6 semesters, S1 8 semesters.
